The premiere of the new Mayhem song
Norwegian Black Metal legends Mayhem unleashed a new song Worthless Abominations Destroyed from the upcoming sixth album called “Daemon”. The composition sounds in the spirit of the great “De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas”, which undoubtedly should please both new and old fans of the band. Although I am not a supporter of any particular line-up of Mayhem, but this fact pleased me very much. I like both new and old albums.
Let’s back to the new song, which is a very good bait and lure to making a pre-order of the new album, in my opinion. By itself the song has straightforward structure with classic riffs (hence comes to mind the reference to their best album) and not similar to the stuff from the previous albums that contain complex and broken riffs and dissonances. The sound became more specific, “sweet” and well-balanced. Each instrument is clearly audible in the mix. Awesome track and classy riffs! The only negative thing is less than 4 minutes length of the song. There is a feeling of understatement, but I hope it will off after a full listening of the album, which will be released on Season of Mist on October 25, 2019.
Mayhem hasn’t similar albums and this fact draws attention to the new album even more. It’s hard to say and to foresee what it will be in the end. But no doubt this will be a big event.
